Greetings from Old Faithful. Jim and I are all checked in and settled. We spent last Wednesday night in Gardiner, MT, checked in with personnel Thursday morning, and then on to Mammoth Hot Springs for orientation. I stayed 2 nights in MHS for training and Jim went on to OF for his training.
It was just like back in college - a dorm room with 3 other women and a bathroom down the hall. We had snow flurries on Friday. Like the locals say - they have 2 seasons here - winter & July. So many of the roads and campgrounds are still closed due to snow. They delivered me to OF on Saturday afternoon where Jim and I met up - arranged the room, ate at the employee dining room then he had to report for work. The employee dining room food is really good so don't suspect Jim or I will slim down too much. Working with people from all over the world.  Jim teamed up with 4 Russians and communications have been challenging but fun - they just smile a lot and do their jobs.
I saw a mama grizzly with 2 cubs on the way down to OF on Saturday but unfortunately was without the camera. What a sight!!! Still can't believe we're here in this beautiful country. I start my first full day tomorrow but we have the weekend off so will do lots of exploring and will add an update.
We'll keep in touch

  2. Sounds like the two of you are all settled in, just like home. Except in a more paradise like part of the world. Enjoy and take care. Sergio

  3. It is taking everything I have to keep Sergio from hitting the road to Yellowstone after he reads your postings. Looking forward to seeing you later this summer.
